Waiting

So if you’re waiting on God, wait on Him right to the end. Hos. 12:6, “Wait on your God continually.” Wait until God answers.

Rest

A great thing about Jesus is that he is not just our teacher; He is our guide and our light on the way. Meaning, we will never get lost, because He will always be with us to show us the way forward.

We may not know what lies a year, a month, a day or even an hour in the future. But it does not matter, for He will always be there, and so we can rest in that sure knowledge.

Amen to that!!

Still

Resting on God's word and in His promises is the best place to be.

No worries there
No stress there
No sleepless nights there

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. Jehovah of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge.

Truth and lies

When you're different, sometimes you don't see the millions of people who accept you for what you are. All you notice is the person who doesn't ― Jodi Picoult

And the same goes if you turn the statement the other way around. It doesn't matter how many people reject you for your uniqueness, the one person who values you is like a fuel to your existence. And if you aren't self-confident, you'll find yourself keeping that one positive person at arms length just so you can draw something special from them about you as needed.

It's important to love, value and respect yourself. God knew about you before He made you; therefore, there is nothing wrong with you or off about you.

Quit focusing on others' opinions about you and rest in God's definition of who you are.

Laugh

Laughter is the shortest distance between two people - Victor Borge

Don't be so mean-looking all the time. Things are just not that serious. It's ok to laugh a little, and a lot :) - try it!

One of my mentors would say "smile a while and give your face a rest"!

It's good to have a sense of humor. You can be much more approachable and friendly if your attitude isn't so tight all the time!

Happy Sunday!

Happy Rest

Have you ever felt the sweet happy sense of rest upon going to bed at night? How delightful was the sensation of relaxing every muscle and letting your body go into perfect abandonment of ease and comfort.  The strain of the day had ceased, for a few hours at least.  You no longer had to hold up an aching head, a weary back, or a burdened heart. You trusted yourself to the bed in an absolute confidence and it held you up without effort or strain.  You rested!

But suppose you had doubted the strength or the stability of your bed, and had dreaded each moment to find it giving way beneath you.  Could you have rested then? Would not every muscle have been strained in a fruitless effort to hold yourself up, and would not the weariness have been greater than if you had not gone to bed at all?

Now, apply this analogy to what it means to rest in the Lord.  Let you souls lie down upon the couch of His will.  Relax every strain, and lay off every burden.  Let yourself go in perfect abandonment of ease and comfort, knowing that, since He holds you up, you are perfectly safe.  Your part is simply to rest. His part is to sustan you; and He cannot fail.

Rest Builders:
  • Is there an area or issue in your life in which you need to experience God's rest and peace?
  • When have you felt a God-given rest or peace after particularly difficult times?

Rest is easy!

Its hard to rest when you have so many things to do. And then when you do rest, you spend that rest time thinking of the next item on your daily agenda. This is what we do, as women! Right? (Genesis 2:2And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made). The bible tells us that on the 7th day of creation, God rested. It does not say that He rested in the morning of the 7th day or two hours of the 7th day; BUT that He rested the entire day. I believe God spent that 7th day enjoying the many things He had just created. Rest is easy. All it takes is just deciding to be lazy for once and doing absolutely nothing. You'll find that you'll pay close attention to the little things you hardly see and you'll actually have some good ol' family time or me-time. Some practical things:
  • Take a walk without your IPOD or your cell phone
  • Eat breakfast, and then go back to bed
  • Watch TV without folding the clean laundry
  • Take a good nap without reading first
  • Read your bible without thinking of your next sermon
  • Don't get out of your PJs so quickly on a Saturday morning. Its ok!
  • Don't schedule anything for an entire weekend... (this is a hard one!)
We spend a lot of our time working and paying for where we live, what we drive, and the many bills we have and don't spend enough time enjoying where the money goes. REST is easy! We can drive out the overwhelming spirit , if we choose not to bombard our mind with much. Do you agree?
