Great read!
“I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you” (John 15:15, NIV).
Do you defend Him? While others are making a mockery of the Christian faith, it is important to God that you stand up for Him in this time in which we live. He expects His children to defend the faith. Jude writes, “defend the faith that God has entrusted once for all time to his holy people” (Jude 1:3, NLT).
Are you ashamed of Him? Jesus said, “If anyone is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and sinful days, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in the glory of his Father with the holy angels” (Mark 8:38, NLT).
Do you have a strong emotional love for Him? When you are in the presence of close friends, you can see their love for each other. God wants us to love Him with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind, and all our strength (see Mark 12:30, NLT).
Do you believe in Him? Proof of belief is in our obedience. We must go beyond simply hearing to obeying God and doing what He tells us to do if we are His friends. Jesus said, “You are my friends if you do what I command” (John 15:14, NLT).
Do you sacrifice for Him? The sacrifice God desires is the presenting of our bodies to Him as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to Him which is our reasonable service (see Romans 12:1). Jesus said, “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13, NLT).
Our Prayer: Thank You Father, for making me Your friend. You are faithful to me, help me stay faithful to You. You are my defender, help me defend You. You are not ashamed to be called my God, help me never be ashamed of the gospel. I want to be the kind of friend to You that You are to me and I ask that You show me how. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
